Supporting the Place of Promise Residents, Lowell, MA
Support Place of Promise residents by giving of your time and friendship. Provide a Sunday evening meal, participate in a Wednesday Bible Study or become a mentor – all are options. For more information, contact Sandy Siciliano at 617-965-2409.
Bringing Christmas to Families of Prisoners – Project Angel Tree
Project Angel Tree is a program of Prison Fellowship that NPC has been part of for years. In this program, churches buy presents for the children of prisoners, from the incarcerated parent. Each year we expect to buy presents for 45 – 50 children. Each child receives three gifts: at least one gift is something to wear; at least one gift is something to play with. The other gift is either a toy or clothing.
Hosting Foreign Students – Humphrey Scholars, Boston University
A long-time tradition at NPC, hosting a Humphrey Scholar is a commitment to befriend a foreign student and his or her family while they are participating in the Humphrey Fellowship program at BU. Participants have their fellow to their homes/lives, to do something together, once each semester. If you are home for Thanksgiving, you are encouraged to include your fellow in your Thanksgiving dinner. This is a great family opportunity! For more information, contact Doris Kellom at 617-924-6710.
Opportunities are also available to serve a meal for the Boston Rescue Mission. If you are interested in serving, please contact SocialAction@newtonpres.org.
